The Canadian Citizenship Oath

These are the oaths of citizenship, I have taken the Canadian Citizenship Oath, along with the Oath of Allegiance to the Queen on multiple occasions.  Read them both and you can decide which oath allows a person more freedoms & independence.  I say the Canadian Oath for the American Oath places a lot of demands on a citizen and then demands total allegiance to the United States and total denunciation and separation from a person’s place of origin.  The United States oath demands military service and oath is made under god (the christian god).

The Canadian Citizenship Oath

I [swear] affirm that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors and that I will faithfully observe the Laws of Canada and fulfil my duties as a Canadian Citizen.

United States Citizenship Oath of Allegiance

I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God.

There is a federal court case ongoing where 3 people are refusing to take the Canadian Oath of Citizenship and are seeking to have the Oath declared Unconstitutional because they are required to swear/affirm allegiance to the Queen of Canada.

Would be Canadian citizens set to fight oath to the Queen

    • No, you would simply not become a Canadian Citizen. No person must swear Oath to Queen to remain in Canada as a guest, worker, immigrant, or resident. But you must take the Oath to Queen to become a Canadian Citizen or to hold important public offices.
